What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis is a global platform that rates companies on sustainability, business ethics and supply chain practices. It works in more than 185 countries and over 250 industries.

EcoVadis helps companies manage ESG risk (once called CSR) and reach their goals. It also helps them cut their impact on the planet and do more good across the whole value chain.

How it works

How does the EcoVadis assessment work?

The EcoVadis rating is a full review of your company's policies and processes. It looks at your impact on all stakeholders, not only on shareholders.

Each company gets a scorecard and, depending on the score, a medal or badge to show in public. EcoVadis also compares your result with other companies in your industry.

Frequently asked questions

What to know about EcoVadis before you start.

1. Is EcoVadis a certificate or only a rating?+
EcoVadis is not an ISO certificate. It is a sustainability rating. You get a scorecard with points and, if you meet the criteria, a medal: bronze, silver, gold or platinum. The focus is on steady improvement, not on a one-off certificate.
2. What if a company gets a low score?+
A low score is not the end. It shows the areas you need to improve. The EcoVadis report gives detailed advice, so you see what to work on to get a better score next time.
3. Is the EcoVadis score public?+
No, EcoVadis does not publish the score. You decide who sees your results: one customer, your whole supply chain or a wider group of partners. So you control access to the information.
4. Does EcoVadis also check a company's suppliers?+
EcoVadis does not audit your suppliers itself. But you can see the results of partners who also use the platform. This makes it easier to manage supply chain risk and to choose suppliers that meet ESG standards.
5. How often do you need a new assessment?+
The EcoVadis rating is repeated every 12 months. Your customers can then see your progress and trust that the data is up to date.
6. Does the EcoVadis rating count for legal reporting, such as the CSRD?+
EcoVadis does not replace mandatory reports, but it adds value. It can prove your ESG actions. It also helps you put your policies and data in order, so you can use them later in CSRD or GRI reports.
7. Should small companies take part in EcoVadis too?+
Yes. Many participants are large companies, but smaller ones also need a rating, because their customers ask for it. This is common in international supply chains. EcoVadis fits the questionnaire to the size and type of each company.
