What is a Digital Product Passport?
A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital ID card for a product. It shows what the product is made of, where it comes from and how long it lasts. It also tells you how to repair and recycle it, and what its impact on the environment is. The DPP will become mandatory in many sectors under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
The duty applies to manufacturers and importers that place products on the EU market. All data must be structured, machine-readable and based on open standards.
