An LCA report and EPDs for several groups of building products. We went from the data and the sums to the final check.
The client needed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). An EPD is a public, checked report on the impact of a product. The client wanted to use them in talks with builders, investors and designers.
There were several product groups, so the same rules and clear files were a must. An EPD is not just a sheet with a result. It is a process. It needs an LCA model and a report. It also needs a note on the data and its quality, a guide to the results and a check.
We made several EPDs at the same time. There were several product groups and data sets, but one LCA process and one check.
With several EPDs, quality control and the same assumptions matter more. Each product group needs the same rules, clear data sources and a clear reading of the results.
The data covered raw materials, energy, transport, waste and production process settings.
We made the calculations for each product group.
The report set out the method, the data sources, the assumptions and how to read the results.
We wrote an EPD for each product group in line with the programme rules.
We made changes after the verifier’s comments and filled the gaps in the files.
The client got an LCA report and EPDs that were ready for the check and for publication. The project put the product data in order. The company can now show the impact of its building products.
A good EPD needs more than sums. It also needs good files and quality control. With several product groups, the key is to keep the same rules, clear data sources and a clear reading of the results.
Let’s talk. We will guide you through the LCA, the declaration and the check by an independent verifier.
